crawling on bruised knees

performance
2013

tate modern which opened in 2000 as a new type of (post-)institution marks an epistemological shift from (post-) modernist elitism of "high art" into proclaimed cultural accessibility in the era of creative industries. the architectural layout, the fact, that entrance into most of the galleries is free of charge, variability of program and activities, proximity of highly visited places, they all add up to a virtual transparence of the walls of tate modern. on the other hand, the institution does not challenge the traditional occidental art-history narrative. but how much is it a true democracy of art and to which extent is it just a pretentious socio-cultural condescension of the western narrative? as a "loser artist" desperate to infiltrate into "big institution" i crawl through the galleries which are free (of charge/ to spend unlimited time there) in the sarcastically religious gesture- landless humbleness and admiration for "geniuses" of his-story of art.
